Our design navigates the delicate transition between the civic and the scenic through a celebration of the site’s challenging topography to foster connections between the site, the campus, and the users. Each grade offers opportunities for external campus connections with accessible entry on multiple levels. Large outdoor terraces have been located at every floor, blurring the boundaries between outside and in.

Along with the more formal instructional spaces, a series of informal collaborative spaces are located throughout the building. Focused around public areas, these spaces are easily accessible and visible to all, encouraging spontaneous interaction. Large, open, informal collaborative spaces are also complimented by smaller spaces to support more individual or focused study.

The auditorium at Level 1 is directly accessible from the entry plaza to avoid large volumes of people passing through the building at regular intervals during the day. Level 2 forms an academic hub, with large, tiered classrooms, computer lab and a multipurpose room grouped together. A graduate hub sits above on level 3 with faculty and administrative offices on level 4.
